Black.Bird.Rising creates a safe, inclusive space for Black and Queer/2SLGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies to heal, explore, and thrive through energy work, creativity, herbal remedies, and transformative workshops.

Founded on September 20, 2023, Black.Bird.Rising was the dream and mandate given to its founder, Chantelle, to build a healing community where the flourishing and nourishment of Black, Queer and Trans people would be centered. The brick and mortar location opened February 9, 2024 and has grown into a collective of healers, artists, activists, spiritualists, and healing justice leaders.

The Apothecary + Botanica

Curated by SacredSkin Spiritual Arts, our herbal apothecary carries 25+ sustainably sourced single herb selections, as well as seasonal tea blends, herbal tinctures, and sprays for your holistic wellness journey.

Our selection of culturally relevant botanica items are the perfect accompaniment to your soul and spirit care, including incenses, candles, crystals, spiritual washes like our housemade Florida Water, and herbal baths and salt soaks.

Our Location

Our community center is located in the historic Germantown section of Philadelphia at the intersection of Germantown Ave and West Rittenhouse St, within walking distance of the historic Wyck House and Gardens and beautiful Vernon Park.

Our space offers two private rooms for personalized healing and therapeutic services, including reiki and acupuncture. Our main meeting space features a retail section offering various wellness and healing items including herbal medicines and spiritual tools and an area for group classes, workshops, events and space rental.

Accessibility

There is access to a parking lot in the rear and metered street parking on the Avenue. Please note there is one large step to access the space.

We practice Community Care and provide masks for all visitors and ask that folks visit another time if they are sick or experiencing symptoms.

Philly Herb Hub @ BBR

We're excited to collaborate with Philly Herb Hub (HH) to provide free apothecary resources to Black folks.

Visit the HH website for access to digital resources and the BBR location for order pick up or to browse the apothecary selections. Current availability is limited to 5 items per person.
